Behind the gleaming name West Racing and the UK flag lies an Australian team that shone in the early 2000s under the name Silver Oak. In association with Chevrolet, Silver Oak finished second in the ALMS in a Corvette C6R, one point behind McEntire Motors, which entered the same car.

Sporting a bright red color on a silver base, Silver Oak was quickly renamed West Racing when the team team teamed up with Aston Martin the following year to compete for the Prototype class title. Although the partnership did not work out, the team retained its title sponsor - and hence its name - as well as its star drivers Rose Gone and Freddie Lilström.
